Actually, this is a favourite saying by my university. It found the most appropriate place here in this blog post dedicated to summarise the main achievements by EDEN, its Governance and the Community in three years perspective. These achievements may be summarised and presented in two most important strategic steps taken…

Please, do continue, bringing many happy returns of the day! So many meanings and so many interpretations… through 50 years of collaborative development! From freely available, to accessible and inclusive… and global. Always inviting: to consider, to participate, to join and collaborate… Free from restrictions, but thoughtful with quality standards. Responsive and responsible. Reflective and always in the progressive state… It took 50 years for “traditional” higher education to understand what you are, why you are and where you are heading for.

Our life tempo is amazingly fast. Reflection on developments and achievements is a rare appreciated possibility these days. When stepping into the position of President in 2016, I called for community collaboration and active contribution to ensure the representation of community needs and wishes. The talk came into action very soon with the exponential growth of events and collaborative links that can hardly be summarised on a regular basis in such blog posts…

The third European Distance Learning Week (EDLW) organized by EDEN on November 5 – 9, 2018, received high attendance from online community members (both, synchronously and asynchronously) and also high quality feedback from the participants of the events with appreciation expressed towards the topics selected, the panelists and the presenters invited to the webinars of the week…

Just back from the 10th EDEN Research Workshop in Barcelona on “Personalized Guidance and Support for Learning”. The event – fruitful as ever – established many positive moments and contributions to research of ODL, but also Community development, as such…

After an intensive and rich Spring semester, which started with a discussion on the new, but very significant and forward looking EU Education policy, the European Commission adopted the initiative of the Digital Action plan. This was followed by the preparation of EDEN actions and contribution suggestions towards its implementation

The Values and Flexibility for Recognition of Innovative, Open and Digital Education in Europe

September came with a promise of an Autumn rush for EDEN, but none of us could anticipate the richness of blended virtual and physical events that EDEN community enjoyed through the semester.

At first glance, the speed of developments in Europe is overwhelming. Pre-existing conditions created in education established immense possibilities for innovations on the continent. Very complex and concise solutions are already in place. If we think about Open Education, we have a variety of forms on offer (MOOCs, OER, open online learning, virtual mobility, remote experiments and science education, to name a few), as well as regulations facilitating collaboration of education providers on all levels of education (Bologna process, credit transfer, prior and non-formal learning recognition).
