DESCRIPTION:Doctoral Research SymposiumThe Doctoral Research Symposium was offered in partnership with Dublin City University (DCU) and the European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN). It took place on Sunday 3rd November at DCU’s St Patrick’s Campus. The Symposium provided a unique opportunity for current and prospective doctoral students to share their research interests and engage with experienced researchers in the area. This was an interactive event designed to explore some of the major research themes\, problems and issues facing today’s educators in the digital-era. As part of the Doctoral Research Symposium participants had the opportunity to hear lessons from other doctoral candidates\, learn more about mentoring opportunities for doctoral students\, and meet several editors of leading publications in the field.\n\nTo Read or Not to Read?  \nWriting workshop \nFacilitator\nKaren Buckley TEU@NIDL – DCU\n\n3Cs of Publishing: Collaboration\, Contribution and Cohesion \nFacilitators\nDr. Dietmar Kennepohl – IRRODL\nProfessor. This presentation must be designed to last a maximum of 10 minutes. At the end of each presentation\, there was a group discussion\, approximately 15-20 minutes per presentation\, to answer the questions asked by each participant or offer research advice. \nIntended participants\nThe PhD Student Symposium is an open-invitation event for all PhD students and their supervisors working in the field of e-learning or educational technology. It is aimed at current doctoral students enrolled in any university\, both full-time and part-time. We encourage you to take this opportunity to network with fellow researchers\, discuss your research\, and receive feedback from international experts and your peers. \nYoung Scholars Grant\nThe Ulrich Bernath Foundation for Research in Open and Distance Learning will support FIVE young scholars or teams of young scholars with a grant of 600 Euros for successfully submitting a conference paper to be presented at the EDEN Research Workshop in Barcelona in October 2018. \nTwo weeks after the deadline for conference paper submissions the competitiors will receive a note from the Ulrich Bernath Foundation via EDEN Secretariat about the winners of the five grants.
