Other areas of interest include flipped learning\, mobile devices in education\, learning analytics and reusable learning objects. \n  \n\nLisa Donaldson Lisa is founder and currently a member of the steering group of Eportfolio Ireland: A Professional Learning Network for Eportfolio Practitioners and Researchers. Lisa is a Learning Technologist in the Teaching Enhancement Unit of Dublin City University. She is responsible for the roll out of the Learning Portfolio platform to over 10\,000 faculty and students in DCU. \n  \n\nTom Farrelly Tom is a member of the Eportfolio Ireland Steering Committee and a Social Science Lecturer & Educational Developer at IT Tralee. His research interests are technology enhanced learning\, open education and eportfolio. Tom is editor of the Irish Journal of Technology Enhanced Learning. \n  \n\nKaren Buckley Karen Buckley is an assistant professor in the School of Inclusive and Special Education at the Institute of Education at Dublin City University. DESCRIPTION:WATCH THE RECORDING \nPresentation and panel discussion\nDescription:In the last months the world of education has seen its major changes from decades. By remote learning and teaching\, moving education from in-campus to online\, hybrid education\, all educational institutions have relied on educational technologies. The education actively responded to these changes by including more and more open education principles\, quite often using diverse technologies to achieve so. There exists a rich ecosystem of open educational technologies (OET) created by educational\, open source\, and commercial organizations around the world. Open Educational Technologies (Open EdTech) is a diverse group of organisations\, open source projects\, and individuals advocating for the use of open technologies\, content\, and standards in education. They are guided by the 12 principles as listed in the Barcelona Blueprint 2019 and they constantly plan to thrive the learning ecosystems. This workshop intends to discuss its guiding principles but also to present some recent developments with technologies in innovative education. Moodle\, MoodleNet\, H5P\, BigBlueButton and RaspberryPi are among the most used open source solutions\, and the future plans for development will be presented. After leaving England\, he worked at the University of Granada before moving to UNED in Madrid. He is the co-founder of the ATLAS research group and has directed several national and international funded projects on applying Information and Communication Technologies to Languages for Specific Purposes. He is currently working in the areas of Mobile-Assisted Language Learning and Language Massive Open Online Courses\, and their applications for social inclusion and employability\, and the role of analytics in these areas. He has also been a member of diverse scientific committees and has collaborated as an evaluator of national and international research project proposals. As well as his academic career\, he has worked in different international companies including Rolls Royce (the work he undertook there was subsequently patented)\, Hewlett Packard\, and the telecommunications company I.T.T. What the ECCOE system has to offerSummary: The European Commission has noted the difficulties that limit the cross-institutional recognition of higher education and upper secondary diplomas. Any automatic mutual recognition that they might highlight as being desirable still seems a long way off\, even though the advantages are clear both for students and institutions. As an important step towards such a solution to this problem\, the ECCOE system (European Credit Clearinghouse for Opening up Education)\, represents an attempt to facilitate the endorsement and appropriation of open\, online and flexible higher education by increasing trust in technology-enabled credentials among students\, higher education institutions (HEIs) and employers. The role of Model Credit Recognition Agreements (MCRAs) will be discussed together with aspects of their use that have emerged from the first round of an in-house peer review of their functionality. He worked in regional University of Applied Science more than a decade. Currently he is director of regional VET provider and president of EUproVET\, one of the European VET provider associations. Isokallio chairs international WG of AMKE. AMKE is Finnish VET providers association.Title: Innovative teaching and guidance provision\, case FinlandSummary: Finland has combined all VET legislation in one law since 2018. In vocational education and training\, work-based learning is planned as part of the student’s personal competence development plan. For work-based learning\, students have either an apprenticeship agreement or a training agreement. This has put VET providers in a challenging position to offer high quality teaching and guidance in all forms including digital teaching and guidance. \n

Dr Mishra is one of the leading scholars in open\, distance and online Learning. With a blend of academic and professional qualifications in library and information science\, distance education\, television production and training and development\, he has been promoting the use of educational multimedia\, eLearning and use of open educational resources (OER) and open access to scientific information around the world. DESCRIPTION: WATCH THE RECORDING VIEW THE PRESENTATIONSThe event will take place in EDEN’s dedicated Adobe Connect room – Join us there! \nDescription\nNew trends emerged in higher education in the last few decades. The delivery methods rapidly changed: part of the courses are now provided in digital or blended form. This got a strong „push” in the time of Covid-19. The rapidly changing labor market also calls for shorter\, industry-specific courses. The degree courses are more and more modularized: smaller\, well defined „chunks” are delivered as SLP-s (electronic short learning programmes\, MOOCS\, etc). This trends should be reflected also in the form of recognition and credentialisation: there is a need to award short learning courses and other learning achievements with some form of credetials.The European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG 2015) also call on Higher Education Institutions to enable flexible learning pathways\, use different modes of delivery and encourage a sense of autonomy in learners.Micro-credentials can do just that. Taking it simle\, a micro-credential is a subunit of a credential that can be stacked into a larger credential. As Anthony Camilleri formulated in the Masterclass on Micro-credentials in Bled (Slovenia) „For higher education institutions\, micro-credentials require an educational moonshot of our times.”The webinar will discusse the state-of-art of micro-credentials\, based on the results produced by the MicroHE project.The project assessed the adequacy of European recognition instruments for micro-credentials\, in particular ECTS\, the diploma supplement and qualification frameworks\, proposed a ’credit-supplement’ with detailed information about micro-credentials in a way compatible with ECTS\, and created a meta-data standard for verifyable micro-credentials. \nModerator\nFerenc Tátrai\, PhdSenior advisor of EDEN Graduated as chemical engineer at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (TUB) and got his MA degree in applied mathematics at Eötvös Loránd University. He made his postgraduate studies at the Ecole Politechnique Federal de Lausanne and got his PhD from the TUB. After his PhD he spent two years at the University of Brisbane (Australia) doing research and writing a textbook in computer simulation of chemical plants.  In 1996 he was appointed to director of the Phare Office of the Ministry of Education. In 1998 he became the CEO of the first information technology science park „Infopark” in Budapest. From 2000 he became the educational director of the Centre for Informatics of TUB. A year later he was asked to organise the work of the European Social Fund (ESF) National Implementing Agency. He was the director and the Authorizing Officer of the Phare programmes and later responsible for the ESF programmes mostly in the area of education and training. He has expertise in drafting\, implementing\, managing and monitoring EU funded projects and programmes. After eight years he went back to the TUB where he has been teaching for almost 40 years and retired as associate professor from the Department of Chemical Technology of the same university. Having published over 50 scientific papers\, he is co-author of 3 patents and several textbooks in chemical and environmental technology. Seven years ago he joined EDEN as Senior Advisor and takes part in the research work of EDEN in the area of distance and e-learning\, modularisation of higher education courses and credentialing of open and non-formal learning experiences. \nPresenter\nDénes ZarkaDirector at BME-MTI He has been working as head of development and adult education expert at the Centre for Learning Innovation and Adult Learning of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics since 1997. She has served on numerous European and National Policy Groups in the area of ICT and Higher Education. She has a degree in Classics and a MA in Archaeology from the University of Bologna\, and a PhD in Museology from the University of Manchester (2016). Can online and distance learning replace F2F learning? She is also the Head of the E-learning Centre and the Head of the Office for E-learning at the University of Zagreb. Her work is focused on monitoring and fostering e-learning in Croatian higher education and providing support and advice to institutions\, teachers and students in implementation of new technologies in learning and teaching. She was appointed Croatian representative in ET2020 Working group on Digital Skills and Technologies (2016-2018) and in ET2020 Working group on Digital Education: learning\, teaching and Assessment (2018-2020). In 2018 she was appointed member of European Education and Training Expert Panel.Her field of interest is strategic decision making related to e-learning and distance education\, quality assurance\, educational technologies and open education and open educational resources. He’s also a researcher at the University of Lisbon and collaborates with the Laboratory for Distance Education and eLearning (LE@D) and the University of Rome 3.He was Pro-rector for innovation in Distance Learning at Universidade Aberta (2006-09) and President of EDEN – European Distance and E-learning Network (2013-16). As a Pro-rector at UAb\, António Teixeira conceived and managed the successful and speedy strategic transformation process of the university from a print-based distance learning institution to a fully online one. When now engaging in online learning\, a number of teachers are making first steps looking into how and where to start\, how online teaching should look like\, how to engage with students…others have had to adapt their blended way of working to the fully online mode. Online learning has brought new challenges to students\, too: although they use digital technologies in their everyday life\, online learning is new to them as well\, deprived from the physical presence of the classroom some of them feel isolated and unsecure and feel a lack support. SUMMARY:Teaching Online Competences: Debate in a Post Confinement Scenario

Her focus is on student resilience\, mentorship\, and social justice.  She has written and taught masters level online courses for UBC and University of Oldenburg\, and has worked as a researcher\, consultant and trainer in distance and online education in Canada and internationally. Katz is Senior Research Director of the Cognitive and Technology Sciences Center at Educational Testing Service. Throughout his almost 30-year career at ETS\, he has conducted research at the intersection of cognitive psychology\, psychometrics\, and technology. His research involves developing methods for applying cognitive theory to the design of assessments\, building cognitive models to guide interpretation of test takers’ performance\, and investigating the cognitive and psychometric implications of highly interactive digital performance assessments. In the 1990s\, he pioneered the use of cognitive labs at ETS\, employing this methodology in the investigation of traditional ETS tests as well as innovative item types and constructs (architecture licensing\, engineering design\, digital information literacy). This and other research are represented in more than 100 research reports and professional publications in the fields of educational measurement\, cognitive psychology\, and human-computer interaction. He is also a human-computer interaction practitioner with about 40 years of experience in designing\, building\, and evaluating software for research\, industry\, and government.
