EDEN DLE representative in Higher Education Interoperability Workgroup Dr Sandra Kučina Softić participated in the European Digital Education Hub Interoperability Workshop held in Brussels on June 26, 2024
The EDEH Interoperability Workshop on the European Higher Education Interoperability Framework brought together experts, members of European University Alliances and stakeholders to drive the development of a more connected and efficient educational ecosystem in Europe. The workshop was an opportunity to take stock and exchange on practical challenges faced by European University alliances in creating virtual inter-institutional campuses. Most importantly, the workshop aimed to prioritise use cases and topics that need attention most urgently to facilitate the work of alliances.
Georgi Dimitrov (DG EAC, European Commission) and Michael Hörig (DAAD) welcomed participants. The morning sessions provided an opportunity to review the analysis of existing solutions and how far they meet the requirements of the actual use cases. It also included insights from the mapping and synthesis report, followed by engaging discussions about challenges in connecting the IT systems of universities, particularly European University Alliances. Dr Kučina Softić was one of the co-hosts on use cases.
In the afternoon, parallel sessions focused on identifying priority use cases and defining practical framework implementation tools. Participants shared invaluable feedback, setting clear priorities and expectations for the next steps.
The work of the EDEH Higher Education Interoperability workgroup will lead to the launch of a Higher Education Interoperability Framework by February 2025.
